On Sunday the 11th November 2018, the Hornchurch Aerodrome Historical Trust helped marked one hundred years since the Armistice was signed in November of 1918, bringing an end to the Great War, later to become known as the First World War.
Here are a few photographs s taken at the Poppies and Planes event which took place from 10 am until 4 pm at the Ingrebourne Valley visitor centre. We again attended this year’s commemoration with a small traveling display of artefacts relating to Suttons Farm right through to the Battle of Britain. Many people were very interested in our display and were keen to talk about the forthcoming RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre.
The two minutes silence was observed impeccable by the public that had gathered at 11.00 am at the ‘Roundel Monument’ where tributes were laid.
